“Maria by Callas” Exhibition
In 2017, the Callas Foundation presented “Maria by Callas”, an exhibition in partnership with the Departmental Council of the Hauts-de-Seine at La Seine Musicale, curated by its President, Tom Volf, director of the film Maria by Callas and author of Maria by Callas (éditions Assouline), Callas Confidential (éditions de La Martinière) and Maria Callas: Memoirs and Letters (éditions Albin Michel).
In the auditoriums of La Seine Musicale, the life and legend of modern opera was presented along with unpublished archives. Photos, films, private recordings of her concerts, letters, interviews, backstage images of her performances, stage costumes and iconic objects — the whole scattered across 800 sqm — offered a new outlook on the diva who reformulated vocal interpretation while creating the buzz on the social scene. The exhibition ran from September to December 2017 and attracted more than 30,000 visitors.
“Maria by Callas” Monaco Exhibition
In 2018 the Callas Foundation supported an exhibition of its extensive collection in the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, inaugurated by H.S.H. Prince Albert II. The “Maria by Callas” exhibition was presented in several aspects, particularly focusing on the presence of Maria Callas in the Principality of Monaco. Photographs, archival footage and unpublished films — including from the collections of Monegasque cultural entities such as the Opera, the Société des Bains de Mer, the Monaco Audiovisual Archives and the Prince’s Palace — gave life to these moments of public and private life.
